Venezuelan artist, Pablo Andrade, will be honored for his outstanding performance in Noche tan linda and for being part of the outstanding cast in El loco por fuerza at the ceremony that will be held at Battery Gardens on Monday, October 13, 2014
"Acting has never been an easy task, it is a matter of sacrifice, research, resilience and, of course, full of gratification, just like any other career you are passionate about”, with a big smile on his face, Pablo starts his interview from Venezuela about the awards. For Pablo, breaking into show business in a foreign land has been a challenge by itself. The expectation of growing in his profession is the drive that has been moving Pablo forward since his arrival in New York City three years ago.
In his homeland, he studied next to the most recognized acting professionals where he developed a wide repertoire of work and, established his own theater group, Teatropeyo. He left for the United States to continue his training at prestigious institutions as HB Studio and The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. Although the road has not been easy, his talent, charisma, and enthusiasm have earned him the trust of directors, production companies, and critics who consider him a rising star in the acting business.
The award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor was given to him for his amazing interpretation in Noche tan linda, where he plays Macario/Camela Margarita— a young transvestite who dreams of being the best impersonator of La Lupe, his idol— in a story marked by injustice and intolerance. This production, co-directed by Jorge Merced and Leyma López, is considered a literary work of art created by the also Venezuelan Pablo García Gámez, who will receive an HOLA award for outstanding playwriting.
In addition, Andrade will receive the Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble Cast award along with Annia Bu, Zulema Clares, Dalia Davi, Javier Fano, Erick González, Elena Mohedano, Antonio Rubio and Fermín Suárez for their impeccable performances in El loco por fuerza, by Lope de Vega, in which he plays five different characters in the middle of a story of love, madness and abuse of power. Thanks to excellent teamwork, the play received great reviews from critics and the public, which is why they will return on stage in a few months for a second mounting.
Grateful and honored, Pablo confesses: "I dedicate these awards to my mother, my greatest example of struggle and commitment. Without her love none of this would’ve been possible; and my homeland, Venezuela, while it is experiencing hard times, remains always in my heart."
On the same evening, the American-Puerto Rican Héctor Elizondo –remembered for his iconic characters in films like Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries– will be honored with the HOLA Rita Moreno Award for Excellence, alongside personalities such as Danny Burstein from Cabaret, Bianca Marroquín from Chicago, Pedro Pascal from Game of Thrones, Cierra Ramírez from The Fosters, and the "Queen of the Telenovelas", Lupita Ferrer from Voltea pa’ que te enamores.
Reperorio Español and TEBA will be the most honored production companies in this year's ceremony; Andrade starred with the latter in the play Agravios de fortuna, which received excellent reviews. The play was based on the sonnets of William Shakespeare and directed by A.B. Lugo.

Pablo Andrade is currently working on Aire Frío, an original play by Virgilio Piñera and directed by Leyma Lopez. He plays the role of a poet in the midst of a dysfunctional family where he struggles against need, loneliness and desperation. This play will be performing as part of Repertorio Español in the upcoming months. We can also enjoy Pablo’s talent on the big screen in the feature film Bad Vs. Worse, which will soon be released on DVD.
Pablo’s secret of success is simply "loving what you do and doing what you love, with passion and even obsession. Everything else will follow accordingly".
